To mimic the control forces of the real aircraft, the control column and rudder pedals use electric actuators. A mathematical model of the aircraft’s feel system is used to generate realistic forces in the controls.

The captain’s seat is currently equipped with a set of electrically loaded controls. Both the control column and the rudder pedals were designed and built in-house. The software driving the controls is highly flexible and the control “feel” can be easily tuned to match a specific aircraft. Non-linearities such as break-out force, stiction and friction are incorporated in the model.
